Swine Flu!!!!!!

Monday, May 4 seemingly out of nowhere a new strain of flu linked to one usually seen in pigs emerges. It started out as a blend of two swine viruses. It has some genes that originated in the bird flu. If you think that you might have the swine flu here are the symptoms. Nausea,Vomiting, Abdominal pain, nose bleeds, ear problems, and pink eye.
The swine flu is a respiratory disease common among pigs that is caused by type a influenza viruses. The swine frightened a great deal of many in the U.S. As it was believed that it had the potential to do some serious damage. What we are finding out now though is that the swine flu is actually quit mild in the U.S.. So why did we get so nervous?
The fear was that the swine flu would be able to do the same damage that was seen during the 1918 influenza. It killed millions. 500 soldiers got the swine flu in 1976. 500,000 people in America died and 20 million world wide. February 5th 1976 an army recruit died from the swine flu.

Seven cases were found in El Paso Tuesday. Fourteen probable cases in El Paso were also found. They are going to test those fourteen people. A baby and a fourteen year old have the swine flu in las Cruces. In Deming a girl was found with the swine flu and they had to close the high school.
The swine flu scares me but i know that  am going to survive. It's not as serious so you don't have to be afraid. I am going to keep clean and watch what i touch. If you are safe you are not going to get the swine flu.

AIDS

DENNIS DURAN, EDITED BY: CARLOS VASQUEZ

Have you ever wondered where AIDS came from? Or how the disease was created? Are you curious on what causes AIDS? Do you what signs you can look for to see if you have AIDS? Some of you are wondering, what are AIDS?

AIDS is like any other disease, but the only difrence is that thieres no cure for it. AIDS was discovered in 1981, and it got its name in 1984. AIDS is still a new disease, and scientist think that thier will be a machinr in the future that could cure AIDS. Some scientist think that as long as AIDS is around, the deaths of the disease will increase. Once you get the disease, it takes several years, befor you would get sick.

You could get AIDS by having sex with another person who is infected with the disease. To avoid geting AIDS, you should avoid any sexual contact with another person. But if you do have sex, make sure you make it as safe as possible. A good way of protecting tour self from AIDS, is by wearing a condom. A condom is a rubber piece that fits over the males sex organ.

Like almost any other disease, AIDS is killing lots of people. The virus is spread from one infected person to another. AIDS can be from blood or semen. AIDS enjoys blood, and inorder for you to get AIDS, the virus must enter your blood stream directly inorder for you to get sick. Once virus is in your body it attacks your white blood cells, and once the virus attacks them, your vunrable for a virus attack.

Scientist think that AIDS will be around for a long time. Experts also belive in certain amount of years everyone will be infected by the virus. Some scientist thinks that the virus will grow and beecome very large. As years pass the treatment for AIDS will become very expensive.

The Future President Wants to know whats on your mind.

by Ericka Sanchez

A former student interviewed an amazing teacher, Mr.Chapel, who is going to run for president. We wanted to tell you that we mean business. Mr.Chaple wants to run for president because we need a change. Mr.Chaple said that he would change the national health care system paid for by the government and also he would change the educational system. He would take care of the state and not worry about other countries unless it directly affects us.

Right now our situation looks very bleak; we need help. We need relief. What we need to do is give out standings loans, and help pay mortgage. We need to change everything from health care to the education system, immigration and inflation. Mr. Chaple thinks he could actually help our situation. He would bring back the conservation corp, also known as the CCC, and he would create extra jobs. He would bring back the value of the dollar. Everyone is thinking about himself so they set the prices high to make as much money as they can. It hurts everyone! Mr.Chaple's Vice President would be Mr. Cabrera; a smart well-knowing human being with common sense.

Mr.Chaple said, "Obama is doing a good job. He is doing the best he can. He is only been in power for four mouths and it should get better within more time." We should vote for Mr.Chaple because we want a big change. People want someone who talks plain, does what they promise, and really listen to the people. He does what he can to make that happen. If you want to know Mr.Chaple's refrencees, he has been an American citizen for 50 years. He has been part of the homeless situation and now is part of the middle class section. Mr.Chaple has seen and done a lot of things. So please take consideration of Mr.Chaple. He's here to help and hear your thoughts.

Does violece on TV lead to kid violence?

Does violence on TV lead to kid violence?

The question is, does watching something violent cause aggression? It depends on what you think is aggressive behavior. For example, kids pretending to be power rangers and punching another kid during play is aggressive behavior, but it's not intentionally harmful, just accidental.

Ms.Urtaza the school counselor says “When kids watch too much violence they become used to seeing violence. So it becomes normal to behave aggressive and violent. She also said “That violence at home makes kids more violent than the violence on TV” because it teaches kids the wrong way of behaving. Ms.Urtaza’s solution to kid violence is for kids to learn when to walk away from a violent situation.

Studies have shown that kids watch at least 4 hours of TV a day, and Two of those hours are violence on TV. When kids watch violence on TV they idolize the violent behavior. The question is why does violence on TV lead to violence? Now the question is answered.

Why Can't We Play Twister

On Friday Febuary the 6th graders got in trouble when they were going to play twister during lunch. They set up the twister pad ,and got ready to play, but as soon as they were going to start Mrs. Vigil saw them and took the game away.
Why does the administration care if they play something during there own time at lunch? Mrs. Vigil states "It is to dangerous and someone can break a bone." All they were going to do was play a game of twister. Its not really a game that can cause anyone to brake a bone. They were going to play on the grass so it was going to be soft. Its not like anyone was going to have to call 911. Maybe the principal thought someone was going to get hurt or it was gang related.
Maybe the administration could let them play one game and see how it goes. If it goes well maybe they could play more often, and no one gets hurt. If it does not turn out well it would be the last time that they play. Twister is not one of those games that people don't know how to play. Only the people who have played should be the only people who should play, so that nothing goes wrong.

Washington D.C. History Changed

By Carlos J Vasquez

On January 20, history was made. President-elect Barak Obama was made President. During his inauguration, the president had a crowd of over one million. This was the biggest crowd since President Bill Clinton. President Obama is the first African American president and is also one of the youngest presidents in the United States history. In his inauguration speech, he mentioned all the problems that he would have to overcome. He wants America's factories to be run by the wind, water, and sun. He wants America to catch up to new modern threats and to its' former glory. As of January 21st, Wshington D.C. is in the hands of a man with the views of the modern era.
